Episodes two and three look at the preseason game against St. Louis and the first 11 games of the regular season. Episode 4 could be labeled “Elation or Frustration”. There’s no in between.

It was a highlight to revisit Robby Fabbri’s 2 goal performance in his first game as a Red Wing. He’s one of those few athletes who has “resting happy face”. His energy and positive attitude are such a welcome sight. This is a player who wants to be here, and wants to be part of the turnaround. Not everyone has the appetite for the task at hand. His first two games with Detroit were victories. And then, 11 straight losses. Another interesting note, Cholowski had an overtime winner in Anaheim and even capped it off with “the archer” celly. He has some skills, for sure. I am loathe to put too much blame on the shoulders of a young Dman when a team loses 11 straight. Basically, everything goes wrong at that point. I do believe the state of the season unfairly tainted the views of most of our younger players. Here’s hoping for a stronger support system.

One more Fabbri tidbit. Detroit posted a one minute highlight clip. I do believe this kid has real top 6 skill. We’ve seen so many players who can’t do the simple rebound work or quick release shot that #14 had out there. A beautiful breakaway goal as well. His physicality belies his stature, and reminds me of a younger Zetterberg. He’s not “another Z”, but has some of the same skill set.
