Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. Here are this week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.

***NOTE: I'll do an article tomorrow talking about the draft lottery and the Islanders' situation.***

QUESTION: How big of a factor do you think the quality of New York's goaltending will be in the series?

(Votes: 89)

Very important: 93%
Somewhat important: 6%
Not very important: 1%

As 93 per cent of readers voted, yeah, it’ll be pretty darn important. New York isn’t a team that can outscore their problems and while they don’t necessarily rely on goaltending, if it’s not there, they could be in trouble. However, there’s no reason to believe the Islanders won’t get the goaltending they’re counting on.

QUESTION: Was Jordan Eberle New York's top playoff performer last season?

(Votes: 61)

Yes: 80%
No: 20%

I think even factoring in low expectations, I’d agree that Eberle was the team’s top playoff performer in 2019. He accounted for a large chunk of New York’s offense, especially in the first round, where he scored a goal in every game against Pittsburgh. Eberle has his strengths and one of them is knowing what to do with the puck around the net and his performance in last year’s playoffs highlighted that he can still be one of the team’s top forwards in what was a down year.

QUESTION: Do you believe trading away future assets for Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Andy Greene was the right direction for the Islanders?

(Votes: 194)

No: 57%
Yes: 43%

Obviously I went pretty in-depth on this so I won’t try to repeat or summarize my opinion, but it's not too surprising to see the votes pretty split. I can see where people are coming from with either argument and we’ll see in a few years if there are any lasting impacts from the trades.
