Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. I’m a day late, but here are last week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.

QUESTION: How many points do you expect from Adrian Kempe next season?

(Votes: 78)

More than 45 points: 41%
40-45 points: 32%
35-40 points: 22%
Less than 35 points: 5%

I don’t know if I see Kempe passing 45 points next season, but I do see him right around that mark. It’s not production we should expect from him on a long-term basis, but while he’s in a large role before many of Los Angeles’ younger prospects make the jump to the NHL, it’s likely that we’ll see increased production from him.

QUESTION: Do you think Anze Kopitar will play the rest of his career with the Los Angeles Kings?

(Votes: 61)

Yes: 93%
No: 7%

This obvious answer here is yes (plus, he’ll also have a partial no-trade clause). However, my one reason for going the other way would be that the Kings have a ton of prospects at center who will be coming up in the next few seasons and they’ll have to find room to integrate them into the lineup. Reserving a spot in the lineup for Kopitar, who will be 36 years old by the final season of his contract, may cause a problem for Los Angeles. Despite that, I still do think it’s highly likely he’ll be with the Kings for the remainder of his career, it’s just something to consider.

QUESTION: Who do you hope the Kings select with the second-overall pick?

(Votes: 670)

Quinton Byfield: 67%
Tim Stutzle: 33%

As I mentioned, I’m torn here. That said, it’s not shocking to see the majority favouring Byfield here, as he’s been projected in that spot for basically the entire season. Either way, the Kings are getting an excellent forward.
