One of the Los Angeles Kings’ pending restricted free agents won’t be returning for the 2020-21 season, as forward Nikolai Prokhorkin has signed a two-year deal to return to the KHL.

There had previously been reports of Prokhorkin potentially heading to back Russia, though nothing had been confirmed.

I’m actually a bit disappointed to see him heading to the KHL, as I think he could’ve been fairly successful with a permanent spot in the lineup. That said, he would’ve already been 27 years old next season and he probably wasn’t going to get that opportunity. His departure means another young forward will get more ice time and while it’s too bad to see him go, this won’t impact the Kings in any major way.
