Detroit’s greatest asset may be its flexibility with cap space. We enjoyed some good back and forth, and many of you have embraced the reality of the rebuild and are getting creative with tweaks and options. One of Yzerman’s low risk trades last year continues to lend to the direction of the club. Robby Fabbri will be back for at least two more years, at a very reasonable 2.95 AAV.

Robby Fabbri found new life in coming to Detroit. Selected 21st in the 2014 draft, one with which Steve Yzerman is very familiar, and had much of his potential derailed by injuries in St. Louis. In a deal that sent Jacob De La Rose to the Blues, it seems that Yzerman did well in a low risk move. Not all trades are equal, though, as Brendan Perlini, also a first rounder in 2014, still hasn’t found his footing and return to his draft status.

I love this signing. If Fabbri can maintain his production (31 points in 52 games) 2.95 Mil seems to be a good wager to see if he’ll develop even more solidly as part of the core moving forward. Let me know how you feel about the deal, where you like seeing him etc. 2nd line winger is my preference (hoping for a center to come in via trade). I don’t like breaking up LARMANZZI, but he does pair well with Tyler Bertuzzi.

I’ll return to the trade series in a day or two. Just wanted to drop this nugget in.
Stay tuned!
