Kovalchuk - F@&$% No!

When I read Ek's post mentioning the Devils being interested in Kovalchuk, my first reaction was why? Then No, Then F@&$% No!

For those of us who remember Kovy's 2013 abrupt "retirement" and leaving the Devils, are asking the same question - After the anger has subsided.

Kovy came to the Devils to be the savior and led us to a Cup Finals. But upon his return to the NHL he made it clear that he did want to come back to a contender.

Contending is far from where the Devils are. And Kovy is obviously a shell of his former self.

So why? Why would the Devils want Kovy and why would Kovy want the Devils.

Money, Kovy will go anywhere that pays him and at this stage of his career he may not be in a position to be picky. Maybe playing on a team that can afford to pay him through the season and use him as a deadline trading chip to a contender is more likely.

Buy why would the Devils add an older, overpaid vet who burnt the organization?
Well, the team is a totally different team including management and ownership so the bad taste of the past is not a factor.
The Devils are not near contending and when they would be, Kovy will be long gone.
Could they want a veteran leader in the locker room? Question remais if Kovy is, indeed, a locker room leader.
Perhaps they want Kovy to help develop Gusev?
Perhaps the Devils may see, or are after, more Russian players? (Askarov at Draft??)

My thoughts are still a hard NO.

What are your thoughts?

Truly yours,
