Congratulations to the Tamp Bay Lightning who completed their mission… a Stanley Cup. After a boatload of adversity… they won it. We will be talking about it tonight on SlapShot Radio and we will also be chatting with the PREDSident himself, Nashville Predators CEO Sean Henry. Join Brent, Zack and me at 6pm on 102.5 the Game.

Now that the offseason is here, it is time to break down the needs of this Nashville Predators team. The names of players that are moving on is coming into focus and changes are definitely on the horizon. The changes that we know about…

Mikael Granlund – Headed to free agency. The Granlund for Fiala deal hasn’t worked out in Nashville’s favor, despite that, Granlund may command more money on the open market than he would get is Nashville was interested in re-signing him.

Craig Smith - Heading to free agency. Death, Taxes and Craig Smith scoring 20. Smith has been one of the most inconsistent, consistent scorers for Nashville. He has been a solid presence on this team for quite a few seasons, but his time with the Predators appears to have come to an end.

Dan Hamhuis - Retired – Hamhuis retires after two stints with the Predators, a great guy both on and off the ice. Don’t be surprised to see him continue his hockey career in a development role.

Yannck Weber - Heading to free agency. Weber has been a serviceable third D-Pair guy but it’s time to clear some room for some developing talent… really good guy, but it looks to be time to move on.

Korbinian Holzer - Heading to free agency. The deadline acquisition was used sparingly, not surprised by this one at all.

And then there are the changes that may happen…

Kyle Turris - Buyout candidate. The one everyone is talking about. GM David Poile pulled no punches in his recent media availability. Really not sure where this one went sideways.

Philip Tomasino – Gets a shot at the big team. The prospect has lit it up in his last year in the OHL and is a tantalizing offensive prospect for Pred Nation. This franchise has always believed that the road to Nashville goes through Milwaukee… this may be an exception.

Plenty more prospects that will be given a shot and will will examine them in a future posting.

Random Notes – Presented by

- Loan - Yakiv Trenin has been loaned to SKA Saint Petersburg in the KHL to get him some ice time. He will return to the team when Nashville opens training camp.

- Tolvanen - Eeli Tolvanen has played in four games for the KHL’s Jokerit, posting 2 assists.

- Signings, signings, signings - The Predators announced the siugning of Devin Cooley to a two year entry level contract. The former Denver University netminder signed as an undrafted free agent.

- Plans - Other leagues have to be VERY nervous after the COVID outbreak with the NFL’s Titans and Vikings. This one bears close watching.
