The Devils quietly announced a trade, acquiring defenseman Ryan Murray from the Columbus Blue Jackets for a fifth round pick in the 2021 draft.

The 27 year old Murray has always been someone I have liked. But his career marred by injuries.

He is now a vet, a good two way D who could step into the left side of our top 4 immediately.

A former 2nd overall pick, expectations were high for Murray as he has one year remaining on his contract.

I really like this deal which has immediately improved our D at a very low cost. Looking forward to see what Murray can bring to New Jersey.
