The Carolina Hurricanes have signed multiple players in free agency over the last few days. Here are the signings:

JEREMY BRACCO (1 year, $700,000 AAV)- I’m actually a big fan of this signing for the Hurricanes. I was surprised that Bracco wasn’t qualified by the Toronto Maple Leafs and while he may have no NHL experience at 23 years old, it would be interesting to see what he could do, given an opportunity. In the last two seasons, he’s scored 113 points in 119 AHL games and was a second-round pick in 2016.

DAVID GUST (1 year, $700,000 AAV)- Gust is a 26-year-old winger who scored 11 goals and 31 points in 60 games this past season with Carolina’s now former AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers. He’s unlikely to earn a spot with the Hurricanes at any point but at the very least, depth is better than no depth.

SHELDON REMPAL (1 year, $700,000 AAV)- This is a somewhat interesting signing for the Hurricanes, given that Rempal is 25 years old and had just 21 points in 56 AHL games this past season with the Ontario Reign. Rempal also played seven NHL games with the Los Angeles Kings in the 2018-19 season.

The Hurricanes have also re-signed two forwards since the last signing update earlier in the week:

STEVEN LORENTZ (2 years, $725,000 AAV)- I wouldn’t be surprised to see Lorentz get into some game action in the NHL this season. He’s a big, 24-year-old forward who scored 23 goals and 46 points in 61 AHL games last season and there’s potential for him to take over a fourth-line role down the road, with only a year remaining on Jordan Martinook and Brock McGinn’s respective contracts.

SPENCER SMALLMAN (1 year, $735,000 AAV)- Smallman is 24 years old and had 13 points in 47 AHL games this past season. He was selected by the Hurricanes in the fifth round of the 2015 NHL Draft.
