In another development to be filed under the obvious the Winter Classic originally scheduled to be played at Target Field featuring the Wild hosting the Blues has been postponed until 2022.

This of course is not the news we hockey fans want to hear as in a perfect world having the NHL season kick of with the Winter Classic might seem to be a great way for the game to come back. However we live in a pandemic and having an event so integral to fan participation it would be a huge disservice to all parties involved.

Now of course there is the element that the Wild also are in a rebuild/retool roster makeover which will be much further advanced come 2022. Kirill Kaprizov will have been here for a year at that point and Marco Rossi most certainly will be a key part of the Wild top six forwards making the team far more entertaining, not to mention Kevin Fiala's continued rise. It will also provide the stage for those guys along with the other additions Bill Guerin will make following the upcoming season.

This move despite the delay is great for both the Wild and the NHL and the fans will be treated to a far better game in the ice at Target Field in 2022.

It may seem like hockey weather outside here in the State of Hockey with much of the state blanketed with our first significant snow fall of the season, this week, but it is quite empty without the game we all love and miss.

In other Wild news Louie Belpedio has signed a one-year $700K two way deal. He will have to clear waivers to go to Iowa do expect him to be given every opportunity to make the big club this season.

Here's hoping you are all staying safe and we are getting ready to rock the new season in a few short months.

Can't wait for "Let's Play Hockey"
