I will continue the series "Are you better off than you were four years ago."
The Logjam may be about to break in the UFA Market..and it appears to be driven by three players...Hoffman, Vatanen, and now Johnny Gaudreau.
On Gaudreau...
Following up on a lead that the Canadiens have talked "very seriously" in the last few days with the Flames regarding Johnny Gaudreau. This is interesting on several levels, not the least of which comes the news that people close to Gaudreau are saying he may have played his last game in Calgary...
On Vatanen...
Vatanen may be signing a one year deal with NJ if the "team he is waiting on" can't clear space or is not willing to go three years...
On Hoffman...
Montreal is also talking to Hoffman now about a one year deal, which could mean that Vancouver has been unable to move money to sign Hoffman to a longer deal... Columbus, and to a lesser extent Nashville are still in on this. Vancouver may get back in on a one-year deal too, but as of now I am hearing that concept is not yet on the table.
On Marc Andre Fleury...
The Penguins are still interested and hanging around...I am not fully buying that there isn't a deal to be made there.
On Gostisbehere...
There is more interest now I am told. The Hawks are the team to watch. Calgary and Winnipeg have interest as well...But I get the impression the only way Gostisbehere ends up in Winnipeg is if it is part of a deal for Laine.
