Quick Hits: November 8, 2020

1) Scorching hot Flyers 2020 fifth-round draft pick Elliot Desnoyers continued his torrid start to the season with a second period shorthanded goal and set up a third period game-tying goal in the Halifax Mooseheads' 5-4 overtime win against the visiting Saint John's Seadogs on Saturday night. One night earlier, Desnoyers notched his second four-goal night in a span of four games. Overall, Desnoyers has 11 goals and 20 points through 12 games. The Flyers' pre-Draft assessment that there was an underrated offensive game underlying the player's universally recognized defensive acumen appears to be right on the mark so far.

2) ICYMI: On the Flyers officlal website, we took an in-depth look at Morgan Frost's offseason to date, his learning experiences from his rookie pro season and the Bubble in Toronto, as well as what he needs to do in camp and during the season to graduate from call-up candidate to full-time NHL player. Click here for more.

3) November 8 Flyers Alumni birthdays: Keith Jones (1968), Gary Morrison (1955).

4) Today in Flyers History: Nov. 8, 1990

If not for a series of major injuries, power forward Tim Kerr may have finished above Hockey Hall of Famer Bill Barber (420 goals) as the all-time leading goal-scorer in Philadelphia Flyers' franchise history. As it was, Kerr finished third (363).

On November 8, 1990, the right winger tied Bobby Clarke for third on the franchise goal-scoring list in an otherwise forgettable 8-2 loss at the Spectrum to the Calgary Flames. The goal was 358th of Kerr's career, which at that point had entirely been spent as a Flyer. In the Flyers' next game, Kerr scored again to take sole possession of third place.

A member of the Flyers Hall of Fame, Kerr recorded 650 points (363G-287A) in 601 regular season games for the Flyers. He ranks sixth all-time in Flyers history in points (650) and third all-time in goals (363), while holding the Flyers all-time record in power-play goals (145) regular season hat trick (17) and total combined regular season and playoff hat tricks (20). He finished his career with one season apiece for the New York Rangers and Hartford Whalers.
