Quick Hits: November 12, 2020

1) Flyers Warriors player Tim Wynn, a Marine Corps veteran, was given the honor of reciting the Pledge of Allegiance at yesterday's Veterans Day ceremony at the Korean War Memorial in Philadelphia. He then saluted President-elect Joe Biden.

Wynn was one of three veterans profiled in a documentary entitled "Warrior Class", produced by students in Villanova University's Social Justice Department. The documentary looks at the challenges that many veterans have in becoming reintegrated in civilian life after their military service. Wynn was arrested within his first 24 hours of returning to the United States and subequently struggled to stay outside of correctional programs. The documentary explores his painstaking transition to come to grips with his issues and turn his life around. Today, Wynn is dedicated family man, a mentor to fellow veteran, and a very well-liked and respected member of the Flyers Warriors hockey program.

"Warrior Class" debuted yesterday in conjunction with Veterans Day in the United States. For more information, click here.

2) Come next week, Flyers Daily and the Flyers official website will conduct "Flyers Hall of Fame Week," which will feature interviews with and articles about various current and prospective future Flyers Hall of Fame inductees. Leading off the series will be an article looking at a series of potential candidates for future induction. Earlier today, Jason Myrtetus and I interviewed Flyers Hall of Fame center Dave Poulin. The episode will air on Wednesday of next week.

3) Today in Flyers History: November 12, 1992

On this night in 1992, the Flyers' top two forward lines feasted off the New York Islanders in a high-scoring 8-5 win at the Spectrum on November 12, 1992.

The "Crazy Eights" line struck five times. Mark Recchi led the team offensively as he scores his 10th and 11th goals of the season and collects four assists for a six-point game. Recchi's monster night tied a franchise record for most points in a game by a forward (defenseman Tom Bladon holds the overall franchise record with eight points in a game). What's more, Recchi's parents, Mel and Ruth, were in attendance at the game.

Rookie center Eric Lindros collected two goals (10th and 11th) and an assist. The third member of the Crazy Eights line, Brent Fedyk, contributed a goal and two assists.

In the meantime, Kevin Dineen compiled a Gordie Howe Hat Trick on a second period fight with Jeff Norton, a third period assist on a Rod Brind'Amour shorthanded goal and a goal of his own that gave the Flyers a 7-4 lead.

Stephane Beauregard (29 saves on 34 shots) was the winning goaltender over Glenn Healey (24 saves on 31 shots). Lindros' second goal of the game was an empty-netter.
