Happy Friday everyone!

Apologies for the delays. The last couple weeks have not been kind to me but I do have all the remaining teams ready to go. I will post the Lightning today, the Leafs on Monday, the Canucks on Tuesday. the Caps on Wednesday and the Jets on Thursday, with a recap blog on the Friday. Thank you all for being patient.

Today I am joined by a Lightning fan who would prefer to stay anonymous who has provided me a list. Let's get to it.

TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING PROTECTION LIST

FORWARDS

Nikita Kucherov (NMC) - RW
Steven Stamkos (NMC) - C
Brayden Point - C
Ondrej Palat - RW
Yanni Gourde - RW
Alex Killorn - LW
Anthony Cirelli - C

DEFENSE

Victor Hedman (NMC) - LD
Mikhail Sergachev - LD
Erik Cernak - RD

GOALIE

Andrei Vasilevskiy

Really nothing too hard to come up with here. He isn't signed yet but somehow Anthony Cirelli will be signed as the Lightning always find a way. This expansion could be a blessing for Tampa as a few good players with expensive contracts could be plucked by Seattle like Johnson or Ryan McDonagh. For the most part the main core is protected which is all I care about.

Thank you!

Here are the players I am going to consider:

Tyler Johnson: The 30 year old 5'8 centre has had a rough go as of late, being relegated to bottom six minutes and attempted to be moved over the summer on waivers so the Lightning could earn some breathing room. He is only a year removed from a 29 goal season, the second of his career.

Patrick Maroon: Spoiler alert I'm not selecting Maroon but the 32 year old winger brings some grit and has shown he can produce with elite players. On top of that he has won two Cups in two years so if he joined Seattle of course that would mean they would win.

Ryan McDonagh: Veteran defender who can still play at a solid top four level. The 31 year old is signed for 5 more seasons at 6.75 million per.

Cal Foote: The 31 year old 6'4 220lb prospect recently put up 28 points in 62 games for the Syracuse Crunch. Has not yet appeared in any NHL games.

SEATTLE SELECTS.....

Tyler Johnson

Johnson really feels like the no brainer here for me. At 30 years old, Johnson still has some good hockey left in him and his style of game doesn't usually drop off as significantly as others. Johnson is a natural centre but has also spent a fair amount of time on the wing as well, making him another value player for this Seattle team.
