Happy New Year! 2021 has to be better than 2020, right? Let's hope so.
How cool is this: the NHL is planning to have the Avalanche play Vegas on Feb. 20 on an outdoor rink on part of the golf course at Edgewood Tahoe Resort on the shores of Lake Tahoe in Stateline, Nevada.
Boston would play Philadelphia on the site the next day.
The news was first reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman and later by The Athletic.
No fans would be allowed. The games would be broadcast on NBC.
Some details can be found here in Friedman's report:
Meanwhile, the Avalanche on Friday released their training camp schedule with sessions being held at the Family Sports venue in Centennial, Colo., until Jan. 12 when workouts will be held at Ball Arena.
Fans won’t be permitted.
The camp roster will be announced Saturday. Coach Jared Bednar will be on a Zoom call with the media on Sunday.
