The Devils have claimed Aaron Dell off of waivers, which is pretty much a perfect move....although MacKenzie Blackwood is a game changer already...Blackwood is just one of a number of young newly crowned #1 goalies in the NHL making a huge impact....

But who is the best of these phenoms in what feels like the biggest wave of young goalie talent we have seen in years....

We have to include special mention to some of the young #2s who could easily be #1s before this season is over...

Ilya Sorokin
He had a rough start as the Isles gave him no help in a surprise flrst start against a very motivated Rangers team, but this kid is 100% the future on Long Island...I do believe he will take over the #1 spot this season

Alex Georgiev
It’s no secret that he will be a #1 in the NHL someday, and because the Rangers have such an amazing 1/2 of goalies they very easily could make the playoffs.

Casey DeSmith
He has looked like MUCH better Penguins goalies in the early going. Very calm.

Elvis Merzlikins
Dynamic and pretty much a 1A in Columbus

Let’s look at the #1s....

Carter Hart
Looking way more composed and staying on his feet better since the bubble and into this season he is the most important player on the Flyers this season...

MacKenzie Blackwood
Quietly he might be the best of the lot of them and why I put the Devils just out of the playoffs...had I any guts I would have put the Devils in...Blackwood was fantastic against the Bruins in the first two games...

Igor Shesterkin
Struggled in game 1, built really wasn’t given a chance by the Rangers... I love this kid and his style. Bringing back the poke check..He has some Tim Thomas/Hasek in him.

Tristan Jarry
Struggled in Philly, but the Penguins defense was truly to blame. The Pens defense is really hurting...

Ilya Samsonov
The Caps defense has let Samsonov down as well, but we all know this kid can play and make some absolutely spectacular saves.

Thatcher Demko
He was good enough to let Markstrom go and in the bubble he was magical. I have loved this kid so ice the first time I saw him play. He’s a force...

Linus Ullmark He will be the Sabres #1 guy for sure. Not quite at the level of some of the other young keepers, but still, some serious potential.

Who are your top 5?
