Is there any question this season lives in the world of completely unpredictable? A look around the NHL shows this in spades...
Vegas:
They look amazing in their first 6 games...However, 2 of them were against Anaheim, FOUR against Arizona (one of which they lost). In their next 2 games they face their first real test..The Blues. Followed up by 6 games versus LA, SJ, and ANA. They don’t play Colorado until the middle of Valentine’s Day. They could get a huge head start in this shortened season.
Minnesota:
They sit in second in the West, but they have yet top play a team NOT from California. They have three more games versus the California teams before finally playing Colorado next weekend.
Montreal:
They haven’t lost in regulation yet...After one game vs. Toronto they had success out west beating up on Edmonton and Vancouver...They befitted from 3 games against a VERY beaten up Canucks team
Washington:
They have yet to lose in regulation as well, but have 3 OTL. They have played 4 of their 6 games against the Sabres. They lost twice in OT to the Penguins...The next 4 games? The Islanders and the Bruins.
Tampa: They have only played Chicago and Columbus so far...Nashville and Carolina are coming up and will most definitely challenge them...
This schedule is going to be fascinating, but as we have seen in previous seasons, getting off to a good start makes life MUCH easier...
