The Carolina Hurricanes got the better of the Dallas Stars last night, coming away with a 5-3 win.

The game started fairly even, before the Stars took control in the second period and the Hurricanes got the better chances in the third period.

Defensively, the Hurricanes were decent. They did give up 37 shots, though the number of quality chances wasn’t overwhelming. James Reimer was good overall as well. The first goal he allowed was a bit weak but he made some good saves and did face a high number of shots.

Up front, Jordan Staal has really bounced back this season and is consistently completing creative passes in the offensive zone. Vincent Trocheck has also been great and he and Staal, along with Sebastian Aho, have been a great trio down the middle.

It was a relatively even game overall and the Hurricanes weren’t without mistakes, but it was a key win for Carolina.
