The San Jose Sharks played three games this week and a young forward scored his first NHL goal. Here's a recap of news and notes from the week.

SHARKS WIN TWO OF THREE GAMES

The Sharks picked up five of a possible six points this week, defeating the Anaheim Ducks, then splitting a series with the St. Louis Blues, with their one loss coming in overtime.

LEONARD SCORES FIRST NHL GOAL

Forward John Leonard scored his first NHL goal this week, against Anaheim. He followed it up with his second career goal in the very next game, against St. Louis.

DUBNYK RETURNS

Devan Dubnyk returned from a lower-body injury yesterday, in a 5-4 win over the St. Louis Blues. Dubnyk hadn’t played in a game in two weeks while dealing with the injury.

KARLSSON AND SIMEK PLACED ON INJURED RESERVE

The Sharks will be without two defensemen for the next little while, with Erik Karlsson and Radim Simek both being placed on injured reserve.

As for our poll question this week, here are the results, along with some thoughts.

QUESTION: Do you think John Leonard should have a full-time role in the Sharks’ lineup?

(Votes: 48)

Yes: 79%
No: 21%

Leonard has been a nice surprise for the Sharks, with two goals and four points in 11 games. He’s been able to provide some secondary scoring and so far, he seems to be adjusting relatively well.
