Quick Turn Around: Cats and Stars (Again) |

Here with a quick hit for you guys, since the work day is getting away from me...
What sticks out for me these past two games against Dallas is this: 95 total shots on goal with two goals to show for it.
Yikes! That’s not good anyway you slice it.
Yes, Khodobin was solid again, but the Cats need to figure out a way to manufacture goals - even against a goalie that’s playing well. No doubt about it that Khodobin was playing with confidence again last night, but I didn’t see the Panthers making too many adjustments. What I mean by that is there was a number of plays where Khodobin was coming way out on top of his crease to make himself look big and cut down angles - this is a major sign of confidence. When doing this, I would have liked to see the Cats hang onto that puck just a little longer (instead of taking the shot) and see if they could get him off his angles, force him back, or get around him. Sometimes holding onto it also opens up one of your line mates (since the defense could drift towards the puck carrier) for a pass that the goalie will have no chance to get over for since he’s so far out.
If the Panthers run into that same thing again tonight, I would like to see them try and get the goalie moving/uncomfortable, because Khodobin was way too comfortable last night.
Here’s a nice preview for tonight.
