The Carolina Hurricanes played four games last week and a goaltender returned from injury. Here’s a recap of news and notes from the week.
HURRICANES WIN TWO OF FOUR GAMES
The Hurricanes won two of their four games this week, splitting a two-game series against the Chicago Blackhawks, before splitting another series with the Dallas Stars.
MRAZEK RETURNS TO LINEUP
Petr Mrazek made his much-anticipated return last night, helping the Hurricanes to a 1-0 win over the Stars. Mrazek had been out for two months while recovering from surgery on a broken thumb.
HURRICANES INTERESTED IN ACQUIRING A DEFENSEMAN
As reported in an NHL.com article from Michael Smith, general manager Don Waddell said he is interested in adding a defenseman. Smith also noted that the Hurricanes would prefer to acquire someone with term remaining, rather than a pending free agent.
HAMILTON AND SVECHNIKOV CONTRACTS WILL WAIT UNTIL SUMMER
In Smith’s article for NHL.com, Waddell was also quoted as saying that they’ll wait until the offseason to deal with contracts for pending unrestricted free agent Dougie Hamiton and restricted free agent Andrei Svechnikov.
