Quick Hit!

The streak came to an end on Tuesday night when the highly-anticipated game between two top teams ended with the Panthers on the losing side of the 5-2 outcome.

Carolina continues to be Florida’s kryptonite, as the Cats just can’t seem to figure them out.

Tuesday night was frustrating because the Panthers not only blew leads, they failed to contain Trocheck (yet again) - who notched a goal and an assist.

More times than not, it seems the dot is a problem when it comes with Florida losses. Tuesday night was no different. Carolina lead in the faceoff percentage category with 58.1% to Florida’s 41.9%. With the deadline approaching on April 12th, maybe the Panthers need to bring in a center that can consistently win at the dot.

Enter: Luke Glendenning

Glendenning is a guy who I have seen Panthers fans mention a number of times over the course of this season, and as a lower-line player on a team that is rebuilding, might be obtainable.

So far this season, Glendenning has 11 points (3G, 8A) in 39 games. What’s really appealing is his 63.3 faceoff percentage. He would most likely be a rental and serve as a faceoff specialist. That probably isn’t appealing to a lot of folks, but if he can help win faceoffs and give the Panthers more time of possession, he might be worth it for two months.

The question then is: what goes the other way?

I’m not really sure what Detroit is looking for. Maybe a pick and a prospect? I’d hate to see Florida overpay too much for a rental.

Then there’s the rumors about Hall and Florida. Honestly, I hope there’s nothing to those...

But for more trade targets reported by actual hockey people, checkout this article from The Hockey Writers

I love the idea of Manson coming to Florida...but I can’t go into that right now because at the time of this writing it looks like there might be a deal with Chicago.

Oh, baby...would hate to lose Stillman, but what could be coming from Chicago??

Let’s see what happens here...
