With the trade deadline tomorrow afternoon does Bill Guerin do anything or just sit tight with the current roster.

The latest rumor of Nick Foligno coming to the Wild to join his brother are a nice storyline, but not much more than that. The elder Foligno brother is a UFA at season's end and if Guerin sees the current Blue Jackets captain as a fit for the Wild, why not wait until the off-season and sign him when it does not cost an asset in the process.

On top of that there is the issue of how much would it require to sign Nick Foligno this off-season given the Wild's need to resign Kaprizov, Fiala, and Eriksson Ek. Combine that with the fact that Nick Foligno is a wing and the Wild real need is at center not either wing position where they are pretty well stacked at wing and have Matt Boldy waiting for his opportunity.

So let's call the Nick Foligno story just a "feel good" idea dreamt up by media types but one that makes little to no sense to what the Wild are doing and Bill Guerin's roster makeover. Aging veteran wings only magnify the roster issues Guerin has with Parise and Zuccarello contracts.

Nick Swaney has signed his entry level contract with the Wild following UMD's Frozen 4 exit. Swaney's contract will begin next season. The aforementioned Matt Boldy, has impressed in his first two professional games scoring goals in both.

The future for the Wild is most certainly looking bright and one there is very little reason for Guerin to move any significant assets at this point unless there is a significant return.
