What will be the biggest blockbuster in the next 3 years?

Toronto is out in the first round again. The shocking part of that is hearing that Toronto hasn’t been out of the first round since 2004. For perspective, as bad as thing have been, Detroit last won a playoff round in 2013. At some point, the Leafs are going to shake things up, right? With Edmonton losing in the first round as well, I’ve heard just about every “blockbuster” scenario. I’ve heard that Edmonton should “blow it all up”. I’ve heard that Toronto should “blow it all up”. The core players for both are still fairly young with the exception of Tavares. He’s 30 and has 4 more years at 11 million. Oh, and he just destroyed his knee and got a severe concussion. Those can be career enders at that age. But, Tavares is the only name I haven’t heard when it comes to a shakeup. I’ve now heard Matthews, Marner and Nylander.

Some of you have rightly pointed out that blockbusters are hard to get right. Especially if teams know that a player wants to leave. The only player that seems to carry that banner is McDavid (in the rumor mills). Matthews flat out cried during his post game. That’s not someone who doesn’t care.

So, while I deal with severe indigestion waiting to be disappointed by the draft lottery, I want to get you all to plant your flag on the biggest move we will see in these next couple of years. I’m going to suggest some, if you see something that I don’t, add it to the list. This is just for fun, a nice distraction. Please don’t call me (or each other) horrible names and berate the scenarios. Just put your two cents in and enjoy it. I want to be able to do posts like this and give you all something to participate in. Be respectful and be creative.

So here they are. Which (if any) of these do you think will actually materialize in the next 2 or 3 years.

1 - McDavid is traded
2 - Draisaitl is traded
3 - Matthews is traded
4 - Marner is traded
5 - Nylander is traded
6 - Tavares is traded
7 - Eichel is traded
8 - Malkin signs with someone other than Pittsburgh
9 - Oliver Ekman-Larsson is traded
10 - Stamkos is traded (Per Only_A_Ladd). Has full NMC, etc. that would be part of what would make it such a big deal.

Those are some of the more interesting scenarios. Nylander may not seem like as big a deal as Matthews or Marner, but the fallout could be entertaining. Remember, he swears up and down that Dubas promised he’d never be traded. There’s no way that wouldn’t come up.

Ok everyone, let me know. For extra points, you can list the possible returns. Please just have fun with this one. Keep in mind, none of these may ever happen. We’re just on the odd precipice of a flat cap that may be flat for a while.
