It's time for the second round to finally move North!
On Montreal vs. Winnipeg.
Well, I can proudly say I pickled Toronto and Edmonton to be in this series....so,....this one may not be EXACTLY what will happen, but we will see..
This series truly is a hard one to look at...
In the regular season these teams each won 3 games in regulation, and Winnipeg won the other 3 in OT...but what is even stranger is how these teams played every kind of game against each other...
The Jets won a game 2-1 in OT. The Habs won a game 7-1. In the last two matches the Jets won 5-0 and the Habs won 5-3...
Two top keepers...
Carey Price only played in 4 of the 9 games against the Jets and went 2-1-1 with a GAA over 3.
Connor Hellebuyck played ALL 9 games against the Habs, went 6-3 with a GAA of 2.67.
Regular season crashes....and yet...
The Canadiens got 20 out of a possible 48 points in April and May....(417 winning %)
The Jets got 17 out of a possible 38 points in April and May...(447 winning %)
It means nothing now, because hockey confidence is ridiculously temperamental...The Jets and Habs are both flying high from their first round matches...
So what happens next?
It is easy to say that this is a goalie battle, but it truly is where both of these teams have their most elite player. Both were awesome in the opening round. Price especially looked in the zone to a ridiculous level...almost like he was simply playing open hockey...
So what happens?
The Jets are the deeper team, and if everyone is healthy and rested that could be enough to get them through here...We now know that whoever wins this series will face Colorado or Vegas...tough draws to say the least, and yet they will be a Canadian team in the final four with a great goalie...
My pick...
The young guns from Montreal are coming into their own before our eyes...Suzuki and Caufield are a joy to watch play together...The Jets are tougher though and they have a chip on their shoulder that I really like. They are feeding off of the "no respect" story....
I feel this is another long series...Montreal in 7.
