The San Jose Sharks will have the seventh-overall pick in this year’s NHL Draft, as determined by tonight’s draft lottery.

The Sharks were tied for the sixth-worst record in the league this year and this was the second year in a row in which the team didn’t reach the playoffs. San Jose would’ve had the third-overall pick in last year’s draft but it was traded to the Ottawa Senators as part of the Erik Karlsson trade.
The Sharks are picking in a pretty interesting spot. In a regular year, you could probably limit who they’d be picking to a couple of players but this year, it’s anyone’s guess. It’ll be very hard to predict who will still be on the board for the Sharks at seventh overall but with needs in just about every area, the Sharks will certainly be able to get a key player with their pick.
