Last night we saw more tight defensive hockey but very physical styles! In both games, you saw tremendous skill and skating with quite the tempo but teams making very few mistakes, leading to more low scoring games.
The more I watch the 2021 Playoff version of the Montreal Canadiens, the more they remind of the Ottawa Senators team that went on a run that came within one goal of reaching the 2017 Cup Final as they lost in 2OT in G7 of the ECF to the Pittsburgh Penguins. This Habs team is truly special and plays with so much tempo, physical play and are absolutely fearless! The Jets best players need to be their best players and many of them are falling short in that department. It goes without saying, when teams have those players you least expect to step up that swing momentum throughout the game, are usually the teams that find ways to win.
Vegas has outplayed the Avs for the last 5 periods and finally got a win to show for it! This series could easily have Vegas leading it 2-1. The Knights top line was so dominant all game long and now Ryan Reaves returns for Game 4. If McNabb or Nosek could return for Vegas, it would really help this Knights team. I was stunned to see Lehner not dress last night as Fleury's back up.
Looking ahead to both games today, Carolina/TB being a 4pm start.....I see another low scoring game. Meanwhile if the Isles continue to be outshot badly this will be a shorter series than most predicted. Like I said here a few times, NYI got away with it in Round 1 due to poor goaltending by Jarry but they can't allow this trend to continue with Rask in goal. The Isles are giving up far too many chances and have given up the most shots of any team in Round 2!
Going under the total is still the way to go with unders hitting at a 30-21 clip so far! 2nd round 6-4, so unders still cashing more. Home/road teams 27-27 so far during the playoffs.
