The Los Angeles Kings announced yesterday that they’ve signed defenseman Helge Grans to an entry-level contract.

Grans was selected with the Kings’ second pick in last year’s NHL Draft, being taken 35th overall. He spent the year in Sweden’s top professional league, where he scored 12 points in 43 games.

The defenseman got off to a very hot start to the year offensively but did slow down a bit as the season went on. That said, Grans posted good numbers for an 18-year-old in the SHL and projects to have a high offensive ceiling.
