The Los Angeles Kings are reportedly in the market for both another top-six winger and a left-handed defenseman, according to The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta.

This report comes only about two weeks after the Kings made a notable trade for a forward, acquiring Viktor Arvidsson from the Nashville Predators.

It’ll be interesting to see if general manager Rob Blake makes another trade prior to the expansion draft. Acquiring Arvidsson meant there’s one less protection spot available for the Kings to use and while there will be some teams looking to sell off pieces before losing them for nothing to Seattle, adding another player would mean the Kings would have to leave someone else unprotected. Especially if Los Angeles added a defender, it would likely mean leaving both Sean Walker and Kale Clague unprotected.

This is another reason the Kings should probably hold off on making another major deal until free agency, in my opinion, aside from the obvious reasoning of not giving up assets in a deal.

Regardless, it’s clear Los Angeles is going to continue to be aggressive this summer in working to improve their team and the Kings certainly have both the cap space and assets to do it.
