As we prepare for the free-agent market to open up Wednesday, we have some quick Flames news to touch on.

Monday afternoon, the organization announced they extended qualifying offers to 12 of their current restricted free agents. The list of 12 players includes Dillon Dube, Glenn Gawdin, Justin Kirkland, Oliver Kylington, Carl-Johan Lerby, Connor Mackey, Tyler Parsons, Matthew Phillips, Luke Philp, Colton Poolman, Juuso Valimaki, and Alexander Yelesin.

Of course, that left two players without qualifying offers. Those two individuals we Dominik Simon and Artyom Zagidulin.

The 26-year-old Simon played 11 games for the Flames last season, recording zero points and averaging 9:36 of ice-time. 25-year-old netminder, Zagidulin played just one game in net for Calgary, allowing two goals-against.

None of these moves should come as a surprise. Now it is time to prepare for a crucial time in Brad Treliving's tenure as Flames General Manager.
