Can the Devils make fans happy during free agency? You bet the can!

As Fitz continues tooling, he has already addressed (or began addressing) a few team needs:

The D - He has made a few additions and signings, but to me the acquisition of Graves was big.
Can the Devils make a splash with Dougie Hamilton? There has been tons of smoke on this and it makes sense. As Ek mentioned, the Devils being willing to go 7 years on a contract (they may regret the back end) could be key.

Hamilton, Smith, Severson, Graves, PK, Sieganthaler, Butcher, Jaros looks much better than the Carrick, Tennyson days.

The Fit - Drafting Luke Hughes is a great fit. Not only because he is a top D prospect but also is a glue with Jack. I also believe the Devils need another vet forward or two.

The Goalie Tandem - It is clear the Devils may be looking for Corey Crawford 2.0 and the goalie landscape looks good. A few buyouts and free agents out there that could fit the bill (while Wedgewood is the man in the minors and a very capable call up. A Martin Jones, for example, could be an interesting add. I have also heard Halak's name linked to the Devils.

Don't rule out returning players such as Palmieri or Zajac. They would be great fits.

The scoring - It is clear the Devils ooze scoring potential. Tons. But we are not there today.
Does Fitz use some chips to speed up the scoring on this team? Perhaps.

Once free agency starts, it is a whole different story but I would expect the Devils to be active today and address the needs.

This is the most exciting free agency period for the Devils in a while. The next two years the Devils are in a great position to build something special and it started last week at the Draft.

Christmas in July? Yes!
