Gaunce spent the entire 2020-2021 season in the Swedish Hockey League, putting up 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) and 18 penalty minutes in 18 games played. In 12 postseason contests, he put up 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists) and 29 penalty minutes.

The Sudbury native has shown to be a depth piece to an NHL roster, but also lacks discipline with the amount of discipline over his career. A fine goal scorer, he is the youngest of the two Gaunce brothers; brother Cameron Gaunce played with Columbus a few years ago, and is currently under contract with the Ontario Reign of the AHL.
In other news, former Jackets’ center Riley Nash signed a one year, $750K contract with the Winnipeg Jets. Nash was traded at the deadline by Columbus to Toronto for a 2022 6th round pick.
