The Los Angeles Kings announced today that they’ve signed forward Brayden Burke to a one-year contract, which carries a $750,000 cap hit.

Burke was acquired from the Arizona Coyotes about a week ago (along with Tyler Steenbergen), in exchange for Cole Hults and Boko Imama. He’s 24 years old and has spent the last three seasons with the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners. This past season, Burke had one goal and 14 points in 28 AHL games.

Burke has yet to play an NHL game and at least statistically, he doesn’t necessarily project to become an effective forward with the Kings. That said, it’s a league minimum contract and as always, extra depth never hurts.
