Moverare is 22 years old and was originally selected by the Kings in the fourth round of the 2016 NHL Draft. He played with the AHL’s Ontario Reign this past season and produced at a strong rate, scoring 15 points in 26 games, which was the highest points per game average of any defender on the team. Moverare will still be a restricted free agent when the contract expires.
Despite performing well in the AHL, Moverare is unlikely to win a spot on the Kings’ defense group next season, based on the competition he'll be up against. That said, he’s still young and could potentially factor into the team’s plans down the road.
