In another defensive depth move Bill Guerin announced the signing of 34 year old Jordie Benn to a 1-year $900K contract.
The 10 year veteran defenseman split last season between Vancouver and Winnipeg. Benn has been a solid defensive defenseman throughout his career and will provide bottom end experienced depth.
Like the other depth defenseman added this Summer, Dimitry Kulikov and Jon Merrill, Benn is known for his ability to block shots and play a steady game in front of his own net.
Not really sure his foot speed is where it once was at 34 but having another veteran to assist with maturing of Calen Addison and Louis Belpedio along with the other Wild defense prospects that are expected to make their mark in the next couple of seasons.
