The New York Islanders confirmed today that they’ve signed forward Zach Parise, as he was made available to the media. Terms of the contract have not been disclosed.
Parise is 37 years old and comes to the Islanders with 1060 career NHL games of experience. This past season, Parise scored seven goals and 18 points in 45 games with the Minnesota Wild, a pace of 13 goals and 33 points per 82 games.
It’s rare to see a player take questions from the media after joining a team, before the signing is even announced. We also still don’t have confirmation as to how long the deal is or what it’s worth.
The Islanders are also reportedly expected to sign defenseman Paul LaDue, according to Brad Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald.
LaDue is 29 years old and has played 69 career NHL games, all with the Los Angeles Kings. The defender spent the 2020-21 season with the AHL’s Hershey Bears, scoring three goals and eight points in 18 games.
