*I don’t like posting 2 blogs so close together, but this is worth getting up.
Griffins TV packages are available. And, within minutes of me posting this exciting news, Detroit posted a very interesting interview with Jared McIsaac. I’ve done the video embed so you can watch it.
McIsaac had similar “steal” status to Joe Veleno. Both had huge fanfare at their pickup, but both have faced a bit more in uphill battles. For Veleno, trying to stay at center has been exceptionally difficult. For McIsaac, trying to stay healthy has been brutal.
He talks in depth about his shoulder surgeries. He is visibly shaken by the bad luck of the second injury. For NHLers, shoulders, knees, hips and wrists are brutal injuries. They can shut you down, and so can the surgeries. We saw Svechnikov derailed and never quite find his footing. Hopefully McIsaac can get things going.
The young defenseman is more than eager to get going. It’s a hard road, and hopefully the shoulder can be stronger. The last “bump” that sent him to surgery didn’t look like much, but it was enough. He wants to be on the ice and be competing for a spot. At 21, he’s hardly “old”. He’s missed a year and a half of development and playing (missed 2 summers of training). That’s a lot of work to squeeze in (and try not to injure yourself overdoing it).
This still feels very much like a player worth watching. Hopefully the surgeries and conditioning have him ready to go for a full 21/22 season.
