Last night, the Canadiens announced their training camp roster and it’s full to the brim. The Habs covered all their bases and invited a whooping 70 players, 16 of which were at the rookie camp: Tory Dello, Cédric Desruisseaux, Justin Ducharme, Gianni Fairbrother, Alexis Gravel, Kaiden Guhle, Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Cam Hillis, Jan Mysak, Mattias Norlinder, Joshua Roy, Xavier Simoneau, Daniil Sobolev, Joe Vrbetic, Arber Xhekej and Jesse Ylonen. Of course, for most of these guys, they have next to no chance of actually making the team, but still, attending the proper training camp is great experience.
As well as the physical testing, the players are also taking part in the media day today. This is essentially a day of photo shoot for the team’s promotional material and the recording of video content for the Habs’ website. The Canadiens are sharing a lot of content on social media today, mainly players checking in on Twitter but on one Mike Hoffman video, we saw Tyler Toffoli in the background having his picture taken and by the looks of it, number 73 will be rocking an “A” this season. Bergevin has already confirmed that no new captain will be appointed in Weber’s absence, but with both he and Byron injured, Gallagher is going to need a couple of fellow “A”s. Toffoli is one and I’m thinking Jeff Petry might be the other, time will tell. EDIT: Suzuki has one now
If you’re not busy today, Marc Dumont is live on the Canadiens’ Twitch account interviewing players all through the day. So far he’s spoken to Xavier Delisle, Rafael Harvey-Pinard and Ryan Poehling, so he should be talking to the NHL guys later today. You can check it out

Hier soir, les Canadiens ont annoncé la liste des joueurs qui seraient presents au camp d’entraînement et elle comprend un impressionnant total de 70 noms. Parmi les 70 joueurs presents, 16 sont des invités issus du camp des recrues : Tory Dello, Cédric Desruisseaux, Justin Ducharme, Gianni Fairbrother, Alexis Gravel, Kaiden Guhle, Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Cam Hillis, Jan Mysak, Mattias Norlinder, Joshua Roy, Xavier Simoneau, Daniil Sobolev, Joe Vrbetic, Arber Xhekej et Jesse Ylonen. Bien sûr, pour la plupart d’entre eux, ils n’ont presque aucune chance de faire l’équipe, mais de participer au vrai camp d’entraînement est une très bonne expérience.

Essentiellement, c’est un shooting photo pour le matériel promotionnel de l’équipe ainsi que le tournage de vidéos destinés au site internet de l’équipe. Les Canadiens partagent beaucoup de contenu sur les medias sociaux aujourd’hui, incluant plusieurs vidéo de joueurs saluant les fans et dans celui de Mike Hoffman, on a pu voir Tyler Toffoli en arrière-plan se faisant prendre en photo et il semblerait que le numéro 73 arborera fièrement un « A » sur son chandail cette saison. Bergevin a déjà confirmé que l’organisation ne nommera pas un nouveau capitaine en l’absence de Weber, mais avec lui et Byron sur la liste des blessés, Gallagher aura besoin de compagnie en tant qu’adjoint au capitaine. Toffoli sera donc le premier et je crois que Jeff Petry pourrait bien être le 2e, le temps nous le dira. MODIF: Suzuki porte maintenant le A aussi.
