Hurrican Raymond is enough to get some much needed buzz for Detroit. The 19 year old, just a year after being drafted, has taken over the conversation. What’s amazing is that Seider is playing really well, and would easily be the source of his own excitement. He looks like the top right side D, but Detroit has been so starved for offense that the 2020 4th overall pick is too exciting to look past.

Update - much more exciting lineup than I thought. Zadina, Larkin, Raymond and Veleno all going down to CBJ. I’ll leave the original post intact, but wanted to get you this info

Tonight is likely going to see the “B” squad in Columbus, so unfortunately the hurricane may not be on the ice. With another back to back that will see the Penguins in Detroit tomorrow night, tonight’s match is the last chance for the road warrior crew to try and stand out.

With Columbus in a separate division this year (and the strongest division at that) we won’t get to see a lot of the Blue Jackets. For the past several seasons, the Jackets have had the edge over Detroit. And then, year after year, players left town. Panarin, Bobrovsky, Duchene, Jones, Atkinson, Foligno (and a few others) have moved on. Last year saw the jackets finish one spot lower than Detroit, and this year could be more of the same.

There is still an all star leading the blue line, and two netminders that can keep them in games. Roslovic is there shift after shift. If Laine can find his game, things could be better. All that aside, this team could well be last in the Metro. The rebuild may have forced itself on the team. Tortorella got the absolute most he could out of that squad but has moved on as well.

Tonight, the Jackets may well have a strong showing against Detroit’s road crew. Once the regular season hits and Detroit has its full NHL roster, the Wings may finally have regained the advantage in what had been a decent rivalry.

As per usual, I’ll put a postgame together with any Detroit goal highlights. A few of you have seemed to enjoy being able to have it all on one page. Hopefully some of this year’s Griffins roster can break out and have a good sendoff down 96.
