The Golden Knights go head to head with the New York Islanders tonight in what should be some desperate hockey. Despite their success in the playoffs last year, Vegas has started 1-3-0 and the Islanders have started 2-2-1.

Let’s take a look at the lineup.

Marchessault—Karlsson—Smith
Krebs—Stephenson—Roy
Dadonov—Patrick—Kolesar
Janmark—Howden—Carrier

Hague —Pietrangelo
Theodore—Coghlan
McNabb—Miromanov

Lehner
Brossoit

First NHL game for Miromanov
Daniil Miromanov made the most of his three late preseason games by scoring three goals. There was clearly some NHL scoring talent on show in those games. At one point he walked the puck in from the blue line and into the net against the Kraken. Starting the season on Henderson, he put up four points on two games including two goals. While the injury bug is hitting the Golden Knights hard, the silver lining may be that the 24 year old 6’4” Russian earns himself a permanent spot.
Injury issues
With Stone, Pacioretty, Martinez, Whitecloud, and Tuch our of the lineup with injuries, today’s game might be a bit of a work in progress defensively. To add to that, several players likely came back from injured reserve early — Carrier, Theodore, Roy, and Howden come to mind.

Back to make his mark
Mattias Janmark is finally off of COVID protocol. The Golden Knights missed his tenacity. Don’t expect him to stay on the fourth line

Have a great day,
