The Ottawa Senators have acquired forward Dylan Gambrell from the San Jose Sharks for a 2022 7th round pick. He has one assist in 3 games in the AHL with the Barracuda.
He was drafted in the 2nd round back in 2016. He played 49 games last year with SJ and 50 games the year before. NHL career stats, 110 games, 10G, 13A.
He is on a one-way deal paying 1.1 million.
This is a depth move for the team, not exactly what Sens fans were hoping for, is an understatement!
What I don't get and I have said this a few times, both here at hockeybuzz and on Twitter is that Ottawa had Mike Amadio from the Christian Wolanin deal but let him walk this summer. He asked for 400K in the AHL, 750k in the NHL and Sens GM Pierre Dorion told him no thanks! He has played 176 NHL games but the team is now going to pay a guy with similar stats to that of Amadio for 1.1 million and had to give up a draft pick.
Between Sens fans and the media, everyone is hoping for some legit scoring help that can play in the top 6.
