The Golden Knights play the Anaheim Ducks today at 6pm after squeezing out two victories earlier in the week. The Ducks haven’t won since Oct. 18th in Calgary where they pulled off an overtime victory despite being vastly out chanced. Here are the projected lines.

Marchessault-Karlsson-Smith
Carrier*-Stephenson-Krebs
Dadonov-Roy-Kolesar
Howden-Leschyshyn-Miromanov

Hague-Pietrangelo
Martinez-Theodore
McNabb-Coghlan

Lehner

*Carrier is going to be a game time decision

Injuries continue
Nolan Patrick joined the ranks of the Vegas injured prior to the Golden Knights game against the Dallas Stars on Wednesday. He joins Janmark, Whitecloud, Stone, and Pacioretty. On the bright side, offensive dynamo defenseman Alec Martinez is back in the lineup. Stone is now practicing on his own.

Silver lining
Despite being currently day-to-day, Zach Whitecloud signed a 2.75x6 contract Thursday that will see him in Vegas until 2028 if he is not traded. Speaking of:

Blueline depth added
With Whitecloud injured and Theodore/Martinez missing time already this year; Vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon brought in journeyman defenceman Ben Hutton. The 6’2” 206 lb 28 year old has only played 38 games in the last two seasons.

Eichel coming to the Golden Knights?
Rumours are swirling that Buffalo GM Kevyn Adams is getting close to trading elite center Jack Eichel to Vegas. While it would be exciting to see the Golden Knights swing a trade for Jack Eichel, myself as a writer am not looking forward to the cap implications. The Golden Knights are bending every dollar available via LTIR with Alex Tuch out half the season and the team’s two brightest stars in Stone and Pacioretty out for the early months of the season.

A package for him may include the likes of Smith, Dadonov or even Theodore as an active cap hit as well as a prospect package. The cap hit would need to be adressed in the offseason, but there’s a possibility that Eichel misses almost all of not all of the season after getting surgery. For fun let’s put out the offer:

Reilly Smith (five million for the rest of the season)
Peyton Krebs
Jack Dugan
2022 Golden Knights 1st round pick
2022 New York Rangers 3rd round pick (acquired in the Reaves trade)

For

Jack Eichel

What do you think? What would your offer be?

Enjoy the game,
