Per multiple reports -and first reported by Andrew Peters - The Buffalo Sabres have traded Jack Eichel to the Vegas Golden Knights. A full blog with thoughts will be out later in the afternoon, but for now, let's take a look at what the deal looks like:

Vegas receives:

Jack Eichel
Sabres 2023 or 2024 3rd-round draft pick

Buffalo receives:

Alex Tuch
Peyton Krebs
2022 1st-round pick (top-10 protected)
2023 or 2024 2nd round pick

The second round Vegas pick and the third round Sabres pick will shift to 2023 if the Vegas first round pick is a top-10 pick in 2022. Likewise, that first-round pick will become a 2023 first round pick if Vegas does indeed draft in the top-10 this season.

My initial reaction is it's a fair - if unspectacular - deal for the Buffalo Sabres. They were in a tough spot with Eichel's injury and did their best to maximize the return on a depreciated asset. Tuch will likely be a favorite in Buffalo for a long time. He's said to be thrilled to join the Sabres as he has trained in Buffalo during the off-season for years. Peyton Krebs is a terrific young prospect who will help fill in the center depth question moving forward. It's a solid B trade
