Previous post: Larkin out again, Buffalo Pregame

Summary - the rookies came up big tonight. 3 assists for Raymond and the game winner in overtime for Seider as his first NHL goal. Those two have breathed life into fans and into the rebuild.

The line of Bertuzzi/Suter/Raymond made a huge impact. Suter with a goal and an assist, Bertuzzi with 2 goals and an assist, Raymond with 3 assists. Leave. That. Line. Together.

Larkin could greatly improve the second line when he gets back. Worth at least considering.

Most of that game was a torturous watch. Ned came up with some big saves. Wings could easily have been up 3-0 in the first but huge saves from Buffalo’s net minder kept them in it. Then, Buffalo took over. Wings had trouble getting the puck back. Bertuzzi’s ability to keep coming back played huge in this one.

It’s impossible to say enough about Raymond and Seider. They are so far ahead of other prospects and earned this opportunity. Raymond seems to get more confident every game. His assists came from reading the ice and reacting. Fantastic vision for the game. Seider continues to keep going. He’s facing the other teams high end talent and tonight called his own number off the bench. Very exciting finish to a game that felt like it was out of reach.

First Period:
The first period started off with a bang as Suter helped bang home a goal. I am honestly surprised this wasn’t challenged as it really looked like the goalie was moved by the stick. Raymond got 2 or 3 pokes at the biscuit before Suter shoved it home. Tack on another assist for Raymond. Nice start for Suter/Bertuzzi/Raymond:

Suter’s goal:

*Seider is so comfortable taking passes off of his skate. Seem to use his instep to settle the puck and right to his stick. Love watching this kid play.

Third Period:
Raymond tripped, Wings finally get a power play opportunity.

No score on that.

At the 13 minute mark Wings started having fantastic puck movement. Raymond skates around , grabs the puck at the blue line, passes to Dekeyser who gets the puck to Bertuzzi for the score. Nice passing play and a one shot game with 6:34 left.

Bertuzzi’s goal:

Bert then goes on a one man wrecking crew, slices from the D zone to the Ozone and gets a highlight reel goal 1:28 after their power play goal. Tie game. Another assist for Raymond who really helped set up the play. He found Suter in the neutral zone, Suter got it to Bertuzzi who raced in and buried it. Suter/Bertuzzi/Raymond look good together.

Bertuzzi’s second goal of the night:

Line of Bertuzzi/Suter/Raymond play a big role in getting the team to O.T.

Overtime:

Mo Seider gets his first of the year and of his career as an OT winner! Bertuzzi on the ice and helped get it set up. Seider jumped off the bench, grabbed the puck and skated it right in. Bertuzzi may have saved a goal on the other end, got the puck to Mo and Seider with a great skate in. Wow.
Seider’s OT winner:
