The Anaheim Ducks are riding a six-game winning streak and currently sit with a 8-4-3 record through 15 games.

During the stretch, they’ve picked up wins over the Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, Arizona Coyotes, St. Louis Blues, Vancouver Canucks and Seattle Kraken. They’ve also outscored their opponents by a huge margin of 25-10 and have done so without the likes of Rickard Rakell and Jakob Silfverberg.

Even before their winning streak, the Ducks had actually put together several very strong games, but just couldn’t find a way to get a win. However, now that they’re picking up points, they’ve jumped up to second place in the Pacific Division.

A key for this has been their emerging offense. The Ducks currently rank fourth in the NHL in goals per game, having scored at least three goals in each of their last 10 games. It’s a drastic change from last season, where they sat dead last in the league in goals.

While there offensive pace is likely somewhat unsustainable, considering they’re scoring on 11.2 per cent of their shots right now, compared to just 8.3 per cent last year, they’re getting offense across the board. Troy Terry has been the story of the season, with 11 goals and 19 points in 14 games, riding a ridiculous 13-game point streak. He continues to click with Ryan Getzlaf, who’s having a massive bounce back year with 15 points in 15 games. Then Adam Henrique has been great as well, while Isac Lundestrom has taken a major step and Sonny Milano has been a big surprise.

On the blue line, Kevin Shattenkirk is without a doubt playing his best hockey since signing with the Ducks. Hampus Lindholm and Cam Fowler have been great, while Jamie Drysdale is already taking on a huge role. The Ducks’ goaltending has also been very solid, with John Gibson currently sitting at a .921 save percentage, while Anthony Stolarz is proving to be more than capable as a backup.

It’s still early in the year, but so far, the Ducks have been much, much more competitive than anticipated, without some key forwards as well. It’s a very promising sign for a young team and certainly builds optimism going forward.

The Ducks will host the Vancouver Canucks tonight, as they look to extend their winning streak.
