Just I start piecing it together here, the game is already underway in Sin City between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Both teams are coming through tonight with a lot of adversity into the season.
Vegas is without their stars: Jack Eichel, Max Paccioretty, William Karlsson, Jonathan Marchessault, Nolan Patrick, Shea Theodore, Zach Whitecloud, and William Carrier. They are throwing in their depth from Henderson for Peter DeBoer and company to test their strength. Even though the vast majority of the original roster has turned over in the first five years, their stars can bring them far into the playoff quest. Tonight, Vegas is testing the backup, Laurent Brossoit.
This could be the chance to add more wins to the visitor’s surprise start to the season, and and to begin the question if this is a fluke or not.
Columbus is without Nathan Gerbe; Patrik Laine; Emil Bemstrom; and Dean Kukan. After a porous performance in Arizona two nights ago, Brad Larsen is deciding to roll with Elvis after a shootout win. Different move than expected as it may be time to see Korpisalo prove himself in the crease, or to suitors abroad.
In other lineup news, Max Domi is back from COVID protocol, and is slotting in for Gregory Hoffman. Hoffman will serve as a healthy scratch for the first time this season as a Jacket. Hoffman scored his first career NHL goal last month, and also has two assists in his first season in the NHL.
