As a building team compared to a rebuilding team, the Jackets did what they were supposed to do last night and beat the Sabres with lots of goal scoring. Opening night, they did the same thing to the Coyotes. This is one of the bottom feeding teams in the league in hockey, and have sold off their top prices completely.

The final score of last night was 7-4, with two empty net goals.

Buffalo’s kids came to play, and were the only reason for success early and their production last night. Tage Thompson opened the scoring with his 7th goal of the season. Victor Olofsson and Henri Jokiharju got the assists; Jokiharju was a game time decision for last night.

Jack Roslovic finally did the thing for his first in the many games played. Zach Werenski and Gregory Hoffman got the help on the Tie. Minutes later, the Columbus’ homegrown kid got his second of the evening and of the campaign. Max Domi and Gavin Bayreuther got the assists on the first go ahead of the game for the Jackets.

The final goal of the first came with just one second left off the power play from Buffalo center Zemgus Girgensons with his 4th of the season. Collin Miller and Rasmus Dahlin got the assists.

The lead was restored 24 seconds into the second period from top scorer Oliver Bjorkstrand. Bjorky got his 6th of the season with help from linemmates Gus Nyquist and Boone Jenner. Only 37 seconds later did Columbus double their lead from Max Domi’s second of the year in his shortened season. Roslovic and Hoffman came through with more points on the board with this play. Gavrikov extended the lead with his first of the season with help from Domi and partner Andrew Peeke.

Buffalo roared back late with the kids’ help again to bring it to 5-4. Dylan Cozens’ 4th came from Jeff Skinner and Miller; while Thompson’s second of the game and 8th this season got help from Dahlin and Cozens. That ended Buffalo’s night in the game.

Columbus registered two empty net goals in 35 seconds. Gavrikov’s second was aided by captain Boone; and the hometown kid, Sean Kuraly, got his third in the season.

The goals were aplenty, as they now have scored more than 7 goals twice in the first 16 games.
