The New Jersey Devils lacked effort against John Hynes’ Nashville Predators last night and Lindy Ruff was not happy with his young team’s performance.

“That’s probably the worst game I’ve seen us play,” Ruff said.

You’re not kidding. It was a downright pathetic start to the game and the Devils lacked offensive punch in the first two periods while barely registering any significant amount of pressure. Heck, they could barely register a shot on goal.

Andreas Johnsson and Tomas Tatar eventually scored but it was too little too late. Give credit to John Hynes for making the right calls as his team controlled the tempo of the game. Predators blocked numerous shots and played more physical game.

“Our execution was strong, and that allowed us to be able to get to the game and be on the attack,” Hynes said.

The Devils need to start playing a full sixty minutes consistently. These slow starts are costing the Devis points in the standings as of late, they are playing catch up. The Devils have lost five out of their last six games, while gaining only four points. Let’s see how they do against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.

The Devils better bring their A game.
