The Dallas Stars held on to defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets by the final score of 3-2 in regulation time, extending their winning streak to 6, while pushing the Jackets’ losing streak to 3 games. This pushed Dallas into the third seed in the Central, while pushing Columbus into the fourth place wild card position at 10th in the Eastern Conference, and holding onto fifth place in the Metropolitan Division.

Jason Robertson opened the scoring with his 6th of the campaign with assistance from Joe Pavelski and Janni Hakanpaa.

Boone Jenner evened the scoring at 1 a piece with his team leading 11th goal of the year on a backhanded unassisted shot.

Alexandre Texier got the Jackets the lead and their last goal of the game with his 7th of the year. The Frenchman has been on a role to start the year, being only behind Jenner in goals now. Adam Boqvist and Vladislav Gavrikov got the helpers on the stat sheet.

The final 2 Dallas goals came with in 49 seconds of each other near the end of the 2nd period as there was no scoring in the third and final period. Tyler Seguin evened the teams with his 6th of the year; Hakanpaa and Radek Faksa for the supporting points. Robertson got the game winner for his 7th; Pavelski and Ryan Suter got the assists.

Roope Hintz was my player to watch as he is one of their rising stars, and rose he did, but not on the score sheet. He was a 67% in the faceoff dot with two shots on goal for the 18:14 on the ice.

His goalie, Jake Otteinger, was 20 for 22 with a 0.909 save percentage in the game, just keeping it together for them to get both points.

The former Stars’ defender, Gavin Bayreuther, was my player to watch for the Columbus boys. He was invincible with one hit at 10:53 time on ice; at least he was even on the plus / minus.

Daniil Tarasov had a strong showing in his first career start, stopping 34 of 37 shots for a 0.919 save percentage. The young Russian has been preserved for a while, and it is nice to see this new wave of kids all come up and player in the NHL.

CBJ Three Stars of the Game

1. Daniil Tarasov— 3GA on 37SA, 91.9 SV%

2. Boone Jenner— goal (11)

3. Alexandre Texier— goal (7)

Thoughts? Washington, D.C. comes next against maybe the best Russian of all time.
