Previous post: The Winged Wheel season 3 ep 5

To be frank, I was unable to watch the game at all. Most of you know what I’m dealing with, it just continues to worsen. All I can comment on is the carnage that makes up the game summary.

Nashville and Detroit both have 29 points in the standings. For Detroit, that’s a wildcard spot. For Nashville, it’s good enough for 2nd in the central. The preds outshot Detroit 33 to 16 on their way to a 5-2 victory. Detroit only had 8 SOG after 2 periods, and matched that output in the third with 8 more. It’s good to see the power play connect with Seider picking up another point. (Unfortunately Seider left the game with about 8 minutes left).

All I can tell you from this awkward vantage point is that Detroit wasn’t ready for this one. They’re coming off of a 5 game win streak, and eventually you dish up a dud. Goaltending wasn’t able to bail them out this time.

The fact that Detroit is still in a wild card spot at this point in the season is impressive. The team has had a lot of excitement and positivity going for them. That doesn’t change with a bad performance. Hopefully Seider won’t be gone for long. He’s been a high point of the season and the rebuild in general.

Please fill the comments with your own thoughts. I hate not being able to see the games. Was the on ice product as bad as the stats suggest?

First Period Red Wings goals:

None

Second Period Red Wings goals:
Robby Fabbri’s power play goal - good puck movement as a shot off the mark from Seider at the point gets redirected by Suter to Fabbri who is parked in front of the net.

Third Period Red Wings goals:
Namestnikov has really had a positive impact this year. A 3 on 2 rush into the Preds zone sees Namestnikov dish to Erne on the backhand, a similar pass from Erne to Ras who taps it in on the rush. Nice sequence.

Rasmussen’s tally:
